About MyComplex
The MyComplex capsules are filled with the extract of three different medicinal mushrooms: 1/3 Cordyceps extract, 1/3 Maitake extract and 1/3 Reishi extract.
MyComplex does not target specific conditions, but supports general health.
Below we take a closer look at the three medicinal mushrooms mentioned.
Cordyceps
Within Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), Cordyceps has been known for centuries as a versatile medicinal mushroom. Besides the fact that Cordyceps helps against various ailments, this mushroom also balances yin and yang according to the TCM.
In the wild, Cordyceps grows as a parasite in the caterpillar of a moth that is common in Tibet. This special form of existence made it very difficult to grow Cordyceps in a controlled manner. They were therefore dependent on wild picking. This made the species increasingly rare.
Fortunately, a method has now been found to grow Cordyceps on a large scale by means of liquid fermentation.
Maitake
The name Maitake is Japanese and literally means 'the dancing mushroom'. If one found this popular mushroom in the wild, one would spontaneously make a dance of joy. According to Oxford Lexico, that would be the origin of the name.
Nowadays, wild picking of Maitake is rare, because this fungus can be grown on a wood substrate. There is, however, a distinction between cultivation for medicinal use and cultivation of Maitake for the kitchen.
The most tasty Maitake mushrooms contain relatively few of the useful substances in the medicinal variety. It goes without saying that MyComplex contains the extract of the medicinal variety of Maitake.
Reishi
The Chinese name for Reishi is Lishi Zhi. This means 'divine mushroom of immortality'. The name shows how much the ancient Chinese appreciated the healing power of this mushroom.
Lishi Zhi is mentioned as a medicinal mushroom in the Shennong Bencao Jing. This ancient Chinese tome lists several medicinal mushrooms in addition to many medicinal herbs. This list dates from the second century BC. So people already knew about the healing power of Lishi Zhi.
For a long time, cultivation of Reishi was not possible until Japanese researchers found a method in the seventies of the twentieth century. Reishi is now widely cultivated in Japan, China, South Korea and North America, among others.
